Committee reports

  1. 1. Building Ed says missing a table; it’s not at the Senior Center 8 – 8 footers, round tables,2  6 footers, one small?  Maybe not.  There could just be six 8 footers. Donna said front door sticking and Ed replied that it’s the weather.

  2.

  3. 2.  Park City Alive!  Next week, August 20, at the new library.  Program is “Kansas Coal Fields” and the sponsor is Friends of the Library.  Shakespeare in the Park is September 10.

3.  Post - deadline 8/19  there was no gardening column in Aug Post, no Pride Notes either.  Kathy and Dee may stop writing them if the same thing happens this month.

4.  Media/Publicity/Website - Darrell needs basket bingo information.  Donn really good about getting Christ Lutheran activities to him for the website.

Courtesy/memorials - Carol said nothing was needed this month.  Pride Posse Members

Chisholm Trail Elementary School -  Tammy was absent, so no report.

Chamber  Kathleen attended the Chamber luncheon, County Commissioner Richard Ranzau was speaker, on attracting businesses.  He mentioned one marker – fast development east by private business, slow redevelopment downtown with government direction.  Etta said Commissioner Ranzau goes every Friday to Leeker’s at 8 AM.

Christ Lutheran Church -   Donn said they collected school supplies for Chisholm Trail Elementary School.  In September and October will support ALS and CROP  walks.  CROP money ¼ stays in Wichita, the rest goes global.

Events Committee - tonight’s Movie in the Park is Disney’s “ Tangles”

Friends of the Library - Janie –Friends will be  hosting an Open House at new library on this  coming Friday, August 19, from 5 to 8 pm.  They will also sponsor the Saturday night Park City Alive! on the 20th.  They will hold a craft and book sale the weekend of city wide garage sale, Sept 24.  Can Friends borrow tables for that?  They are selling raffle tickets for two quilts to purchase furniture for library – one is queen size, one full size.  Hope to have mascot ready for open house on Friday.

Ed said no one has building reserved so borrowing tables is OK.  Bonnie offered quilt racks

4H – Getting ready to elect new officers.  Doing movies in park next time and getting ready for new year.

Project Reports

Over and Above - Darrell, no new nominations, not necessarily on a regular basis

Fix up/clean up - Jan checks answering machine.  Compliance has the forms to give out to residents with problems, but no one has called.

Movies – already covered.

Old Business

Partner in Pride Award for John Leeker - Jan will go to Council meeting on 8/23 to announce that he has won it.  After that, she will set up a time to chase him down at the store and will ask any Pride members who are available to come with her.

Basket Bingo –Bonnie said the project is moving forward.  It’s hard to reach Tammy right now with school starting next week.  The flyers ready to print and Dee said that Len will print them at the Library.  We’ll also place an ad in the Ark Valley News’  free papers and try to get on the TV morning show. Bonnie has baskets for anyone who needs one.  Baskets are due at the Pride Center on Friday, Sept 30, at 2:00 for wrapping and tagging.  Bingo is Oct 1

We need to have at least 30 baskets.  Bonnie announced that two businesses have promised really good baskets.

New Business

Stuff the bus – Carol Flower was absent but sent a report.  The Supply Mountain for Chisholm Trail Elementary will take place on Friday, Sept. 16, from 8 AM to 6 PM.  At 6 PM, all donations will be taken into the library for inventory.  Tammy Alexander’s husband is a Boy Scout leader who will get us big tents, so we will need help setting them up at 7 AM that day.  Carol will gather boxes and attach labels to make sorting easier.

She will take care of getting publicity out on the city signs and in the Post.  Volunteers are needed to man the project and we sent around a sign up sheet.  Carol will contact City Councilmembers and the PTO for more help.  Bottled water will be provided.  If anyone questions, Carol can be reached at 744-0766.

Christmas baskets - following up on conversation of July meeting.  Baskets in past went to families that the Park City Police Department and the Chisholm Trail Elementary School social worker submitted.  Jan said perhaps we need to form a committee to plan it if it’s something we want to continue. Kris suggested that we coordinate with His Helping Hands.  Dee wants to keep it going.  There was discussion and most wanted to keep doing the baskets.  Marion Crouse has been faithful in gathering money in jars and we can still contact the scouts and put food donation boxes out in businesses.  Dee, Kathy, Bonnie, Donna, Carol, Kris, Sterling volunteered to form the committee.

Dee said that Blacktop Nationals had not given info on what kind of breakfast and how many might attend, so cancelled our participation.

Also, she has a meeting Monday with Patrick Todd about Fun Run next summer.

Refreshments for next meeting:  Dee Kelley, Tammy Alexander

Sterling moved, Janie seconded, that we adjourn at, believe it or not!, 9:45!!!!!
