PARK CITY PRIDE MINUTES

 December 10, 2011

 

The meeting was brought to order by Chairperson, Jan McGonigle.  Flag salute was led by Len Warren and the invocation was given by Donna Jardine.

MINUTES OF NOVEMBER  12:  Len Warren made the motion to accept the minutes as recorded, seconded by Tammy Alexander.  Motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT:   Dee Stuart made the motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented, seconded by  Linda Holsey.  Motion carried.   Kris Lewis presented a check for the telephone directory in the amount of $4,068.35.  There are still some outstanding  invoices out for advertising space that need collected. Thanks Kris!

REFRESHMENTS:   Everyone brought  by all members today.  Everything was delicious.  Thanks everyone!

COMMITTEE REPORTS

BUILDING:           Ed said there were no outstanding issues regarding the Pride building today.

PARK CITY ALIVE:             Dee Stuart reported that the last program would be songs & stories on December 17 at the Library at 7:00 PM.  The evening will be sponsored by the Friends of the Library and our guests for the evening will be a dulcimer group.  She stated that this was her last year and that Len Warren and Linda Holsey would be taking over in 2012.

PARK CITY POST:              Len said that everyone that is working on a project or feature should get their articles in by December 12.  If we don’t get our articles in, the Post will be full of filler articles.

MEDIA/PUBLICITY/WEBSITE:       Darrell Wilcox

As usual, Christ Lutheran has been keeping their information updated.  Anyone that  would like information about a project on the website should send it to Darrell and he will get it entered.

Sterling Woodard has been in the hospital and flowers were sent to him. 

PRIDE POSSE MEMBERS

CHISHOLM TRAIL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:               Tammy Alexander

The tutoring program is up and going thanks to Pride’s support.  She stated that the boundaries for area schools are being redrawn to keep more children going to Chisholm Trail.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:           Kathy Woodard

Nothing today.

CHRIST LUTHERAN:          Don Bischoff

He stated that he and possibly some others, will be here on Thursday, December 15 to pack food boxes for needy families.

EVENTS COMMITTEE:     Jane Warren

The committee will meet today to make bird seed treats and decorate the tree at City Hall at 2:00 PM.  The Valentine’s Day party & dance w/Richie Valens is still in the planning stages.  More information at later date.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY:            Jane Warren

The annual Children’s Christmas party will be held at the Library on December 17 from 11 AM – 1 PM.  Santa and his elf will be there and picture will be taken of all children for free.  The Diamond W Wranglers will be there at 11 AM to entertain us.  Please come make treat bags on  Friday night at 7 PM at the Library.  We also need cookies!

PARK CITY FLYERS 4-H:

Nothing to report today.

OLD BUSINESS

CHRISTMAS BASKETS:    Dee Stuart

She is getting names from the Park City Police Department and Chisholm Trail School.   She is looking forward to 50 families.  Bill Chambers from channel 7 will be here on Thursday night, December 15, to film us packing the boxes and on Saturday, December 17, when they are delivered.   So far, we have gotten $700 from the donation jars and other donations.  Dee needs help on Wednesday night at 7 PM to organize the food.  Kris Lewis will provide a list of what goes in the boxes according to family size.  Members are asked to bring a covered dish and Pride will furnish Bar-Be-Que.

COPY MACHINE:               Len Warren

He will be installing the new copier/fax machine after the holidays.

5 K RACE:             Dee Stuart

The race has been changed from Park City 5 plus 5 to Chisholm Trail Charge.   It will be publicized on OZ and Facebook.

NEW BUSINESS

FOOD PANTRY:                 Jan McGonigle

Pat Hutchinson of the Kansas Food Bank will be here on Friday, December 16 to do a final check of the building at 1:30 PM.  A committee has been formed to run the food pantry in 2012.  Dee Stuart will be the administrator and will complete all reports and book work.  Darrell Wilcox will be in charge of food pickup.  Jane Warren will be in charge of purchasing/ordering food from the Food Bank.  Jan McGonigle will be in charge of inventory.  Steve Walters and a team of members from Park City Nazarene Church will be in charge of distribution.  The treasurer will be Len Warren.  Anyone wanting to help, please contact Jan or the person that is in charge of a particular area of the project.  The recommended budget for 2012 is $6,000.  Any funds not used will be placed back into the general fund.  Distribution will be on the 3rd Saturday of each month in the afternoon (hours yet to be determined).   Dee made the motion to approve the $6,000 pantry budget for 2012, seconded by Jane Warren.  Motion carried.  We are hoping to have the first distribution on January 21, 2012.  Let’s get it going people!  We have people to feed.

OFFICER ELECTIONS:       Linda Holsey

She stated that candidates had all been contacted and the following have agreed to serve:

Chairperson:  Jan McGonigle;  1st Vice Chairperson:  Dee Stuart; 2nd Vice Chairperson:  Janie Gee;  Secretary, Carol Flower;   Alternate Secretary, Linda Holsey; Treasurer, Len Warren;  Alternate Treasurer, Darrell Wilcox.

Betty Arzinger made the motion to accept the slate of officers as presented, seconded by Kris Lewis.  Motion carried.

Jan passed around a signup sheet for meeting refreshments for 2012.  If you did not attend  the meeting, please sign up for your turn.

MISC:    Jan McGonigle

She read information from Judy Young of Inter Faith Villa regarding items needed for their facility.  Len made the motion to allow up to $200 to help purchase kitchen items for the facility, seconded by Kathy Woodard.  Motion carried.  Dee will get items from the restaurant supply store where she works.
