PARK CITY PRIDE MEETING MINUTES
MAY 14, 2011
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson, Jan McGonigle with 15 members and 1 guest present. Flag salute was led by Jan McGonigle and the invocation was led by Donna Jardine.
GREETINGS/INTRODUCTIONS/CORRESPONDENCE: Jan McGonigle
Jan introduced Ed Johnson, who came to get more knowledge of Pride. A Certificate of Appreciated that was given by the Park City Library to Pride in appreciation for sponsoring the 2010 Christmas Party.
MINUTES OF APRIL 9, 2011:
Karen McQuiston made the motion to approve the minutes as recorded, seconded by Donna Jardine. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT AS OF MAY 14, 2011:
The balance sheet for period ending May 14, 2011 was presented by Jan McGonigle in Treasurer, Len Warren’s absence. Darryl Wilcox made the motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. Motion was seconded by Kenny Flower. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
BUILDING: Ed Arzinger

PARK CITY ALIVE: Dee Stuart
The program for this month is “Tumbleweed Tales of Amazing Kansans: Entrepreneurs in Rural Kansas” will be at the Library on May 21 at 7:00 PM. The presenter will be Ron Wilson.
PARK CITY POST: Dee Stuart
Dee reported that when she returned from vacation, she learned that no articles had been submitted for the Post. She ended up sending all the articles regarding Pride activities. Articles for the June Post are due on May 21. Please send in an article for any project you work on
MEDIA/PUBLICITY/WEBSITE: Darrell Wilcox
Please get information to Darrell and he will get it on the website. Christ Lutheran is the only consistent contributor to the website thus far.
PRIDE POSSE MEMBERS
PC FLYERS (4H): Karen McQuiston
Karen wanted to know the theme for the 4th of July parade. She reported that they did not do the bake sale as previously discussed. They would be honored to carry the Pride banner in the parade on July 2.
CHISHOLM TRAIL ELEMENTARY: Nothing today
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Dee Stuart
Dee stated that she is no longer a member of the chamber due to having fulltime employment. She asked if there was anyone else that would be willing to represent Pride at future Chamber meetings. Kathleen Woodard said she was willing to attend. Darrell made the motion that Pride pay for the meal each month, seconded by Dee Stuart. Motion carried.
CHRIST LUTHERAN OUTREACH: Nothing today
EVENTS COMMITTEE: Darrell Wilcox
Darrell reported that he was informed by Events Committee Chairperson, Melvin Kerr that he thought that others had taken care of the Movies in the Park. Darrell stated that he and his son, Darren, along with Len Warren, would be putting up the screen and running the equipment to show the movies. However, as of Pride’s meeting date, no movies had been ordered or dates determined. He said that he would work with Len to get the movies selected, ordered, and scheduled.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: Janie Gee
The Friends are gearing up for the grand opening of the new library. Only two entries for the library mascot have been received thus far. They may run it longer or just pick from the two. They are also gearing up for the Independence Day parade on July 2 and will have a float in it.
PROJECT REPORTS
“OVER AND ABOVE” AWARDS: Darrell Wilcox
He presented the wording that will be placed on the award. It will be presented at the monthly meeting of the seniors. Carol Flower agreed to present the award on behalf of Pride. The meeting will be on June 1 at 10:30 AM.
COURTESY GIFTS & MEMORIALS: Nothing today
SHIRTS & BADGES: Dee Stuart
Is working on finding another vendor to do our shirts & badges. Janie Gee said she knows of a Park City woman that does monogramming out of her home and will get more information. Carol Flower mentioned that we have previously used DJ Monogramming. Dee will set up a meeting, when she receives contact information for the Park City woman. She said that Jane Warren has the woman’s information.
OLD BUSINESS:
FOOD PANTRY: Jan McGonigle
No news from Kris or Scott for this month’s meeting. Ed Johnson, our guest today, wants to volunteer. She stated that if the food pantry gets restarted, it will take a committed team to work this project effectively. We will need a member to handle the paperwork, someone to order the needed items, pick up the monthly order, pickup donations from the churches on Wednesday nights, organize the food on the tables, fill the boxes for the families, and to work on distribution days. The last distribution will be on Friday, May 20. No one has come forward from the community thus far to work on the pantry.
NOAH HILL BENEFIT DINNER: Jan McGonigle
Len wrote the last check to Shonda Hill. The final total for our efforts to support the Hill family is $8,421.23. Dee Stuart mentioned that Pizza Hut has offered to do a sponsorship day. Jan will talk to Shonda this weekend to get a status update. Bonnie Simon suggested that we hold a basket bingo with the proceed s going to the Hill family.
NEW BUSINESS
GOOD APPLE AWARDS: Jan McGonigle
She presented Good Apple Awards to Pride members, who were unable to attend the formal presentation.
CHISHOLM TRAIL VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION AWARD: Carol Flower
Carol, Kenny & Keith Flower attended the Volunteer Appreciation breakfast that was held in the school library. Carol presented the award for Pride’s efforts at the school. She mentioned that Keith has been volunteering every day in the cafeteria at lunch time. Carol also reported that she attended the Partner Best Practices Forum on April 13 and brought back information. It was beneficial for Pride and we should be able to use some of the information.
INDEPENDENCE DAY FESTIVITIES: Jan McGonigle
The events will be held on Saturday, July 2. Do we want to work on a float or help with games? No members were interested. Cecile suggested that we find some young people to carry our banner. The PC Flyers (4H) will carry the banner.
KEEPING TRACK OF VOLUNTEER HOURS: Jan McGonigle
We need to let people know how much we do and how many hours we spend volunteering. Please call Jan with all your volunteer hours and she will report them to State Pride. This includes any hours worked for the RSVP Program, the Lord’s Diner, and Habitat for Humanity, etc. Jan will also see that our hours get reported in the Post.

MORE LIBRARY: Kathleen Woodard
Kathleen asked what Pride can do for the new library. Janie said she would provide a list of items.
FIX-UP/CLEAN UP PROJECT: Jan McGonigle
No inquiries have been received as of this date.
SMITHSONIAN EXHIBIT: Dee Stuart
This project is being undertaken by the Friends of the Library. Pride will submit a letter of support to be turned in with the application by the Friends of the Library. If the Friends of the Library receives the opportunity to display this exhibit, Pride will help promote and sponsor activities for this project
BLACK TOP NATIONALS:
John Goyette has said that he is depending on Pride for the Biker’s Breakfast. More information next month?
COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE: Darrell Wilcox
Darrell has received the first list of addresses for people that have purchased their garage sale permits. He said that he will receive the final list on Tuesday, May 31 and the maps need to be prepared and distributed by June 1.
