COMMITTEE REPORTS

BUILDING -  Darrell Wilcox

Darrell said that the garbage disposal has been installed.  He also purchased and replaced all broken light ballasts.  Darrell asked if we could set up an account at True Value for purchasing building repair items.  He said it had been brought to his attention that the double kitchen sink has a leak.  He said that the hose needs replaced and the faucets possibly might need replaced as well.  Kathleen suggested that the City should be kept informed of the improvements that we made and we are trying to be good stewards of the Pride Building.  Dee made the motion that we set up an account at True Value with Ed Arzinger, Darrel Wilcox, and Jan McGonigle as signers.  Len asked that at the time that items are signed for, the person purchasing the items should sign the receipt and call him to let him know.  Motion was seconded by Ken Flower.  Motion carried.

PARK CITY ALIVE – Len Warren

Len reminded us that Park City alive was tonight at the Library.  The program will be by Marilyn Holt and will be The Orphan Trains.  The next program will be at the Library on Saturday, April 14, at 7:00 PM.  The presenter will be Eric Mondor and he will present “Stars of Kansas”.

PARK CITY POST – Len Warren

Get your articles in.  Dee Stuart will send in an article.  If we don’t send in articles, the printers will use filler articles.

MEDIA/PUBLICITY/WEBSITE – Darrell Wilcox

He said he received an email on the website from someone that was included in the current phone book who didn’t want his name, address, or phone number listed.  Len will be switching our website to the new company and he and Darrell will be administrating the accounts.  The website will be:  Parkcitypride.org.  Dee made the motion to budget a maximum of $200 a year for the cost of the website.  Seconded by Janie Gee.  Motion carried.  Len will set up auto billing from Pride’s checking account.

CHRIST LUTHERN CHURCH – Donn Bischoff

Wichita has been chosen as a sponsoring city for refugees from Burma.  The church will be sponsoring a family.  When these families come into our community, they will have absolutely nothing and will need all items to outfit a home.  He asked us to please consider donating furniture, etc.  The average family size is expected to be five and over.   They should be arriving in mid-summer.

EVENTS COMMITTEE – Nothing

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY – Janie Gee

They have been scanning books to be sold on Amazon.com.  The Friends are currently selling soft covered books for .50 and hardcover books for $1.00.  They have a special table of green/Irish books that are on a table by the front desk.  These books are selling for 2 for 1.

HI-FLYERS 4H – Dee Stuart

Dee said she had spoken with Bob McQuiston regarding the iron being left plugged in at the Pride Building.  He will speak with the group and they will be more careful.

FOOD PANTRY – Jane Warren

Jane Warren asked about setting up a Food Pantry charge account at Leekers so that Len would not have to keep writing checks.  Jane also stated that the current commodity guidelines used by Park City are being revised.

OLD BUSINESS

SPRING BREAK BREAKFAST – Dee Stuart

Dee said she had spoken with Principal, Tammy Alexander, who said that there are at least 30 children that needed food during the Spring break period.  Dee said that she and Kathy would be going to Leeker’s to purchase peanut butter, jelly, bread, etc.  Notes will be sent home with the children explaining that since the school is closed for Spring break, there will be no breakfasts or free lunches served at the school.  Instead, supplies for peanut butter & jelly sandwiches will be sent home with students from Pride.  Dee said she will also contact the mobile home parks to see about children there that live in Park City but attend Valley Center schools.  They will be included in this project as well.

BUILDING CLEAN-UP – Carol Flower

Anyone wishing to stay after the meeting and help clean the kitchen and tables are most certainly welcome.  This building needs cleaned on a more regular basis.  We also need to plan a paint party because the walls are pretty dirty.

NEW BUSINESS

CHISHOLM TRAIL CHARGE RACE – Dee Stuart

She has the website up and working.  Dee is currently trying to find a vendor that can laser etch the logo on the medallions.

MOVIES IN THE PARK – Darrell Wilcox

Darrell said the he has received $1,300 in commitments and a check for $150 will be coming soon.  He still needs $195 to pay for the movies.  He went to the Park Board meeting regarding the old road bed.  It needs filled in to allow for more seating for the movies.  The movie schedule is:

  1. 05/26 – Zookeeper

  2. 06/23 – Adventures of Tin Tin

  3. 07/28 – Hugo

  4. 08/25 – Judy, Moody, and the Not Bummer Summer

Discussion was held about the number of people that would attend and the amount of supplies that would be needed for the refreshments.  It was decided that when the supplies for each night were gone, then the refreshment stand would be closed.  Jane said that having a different Pride member in charge for each movie worked out really well last year.  Darrell provided a list of the businesses that donated towards the movies and asked that anyone that was soliciting donations for concession stand supplies please not contact them.  John Leeker will advertise the movies in his weekly ads.  Watch out for big crowds!  He also said he would be willing to help with any other needed expenses.  Jane Warren will be in charge of refreshments again this year.

CHICKEN & NOODLE DINNER – Dee Stuart

She has spoken with Tammy Alexander and was informed that due to the construction at the school and all around exhaustion of the staff and PTO, there will be no chicken & noodle dinner until fall.

HAM & BEAN FEED – Janie Gee

Will be considered in the fall.

REFRESHMENTS FOR THE APRIL 14, 2012 MEETING:  JANE WARREN & JANIE GEE.
