PARK CITY PRIDE COMMITTEE

Minutes for November 12, 2011

 

Flag Salute was led by Ed Arzinger and Betty Arzinger gave the Invocation

Greetings, Correspondence, Introductions  Pastor Chad Lane, Christ Lutheran

Minutes of Oct 8 meeting  Approval moved by Betty, second by Donna Jardine, approved.

Treasurer’s Report    $2,068.26 Net Income   Balance  $30, 476.39   Approval moved by Linda Holsey, second by Cecil Cox.

There were 22 members and guests present.

Committee Reports

  1. Building     Ed, with Jan’s help, explained the new keys and the new policy for keys which was set by the Board of Officers.  Donna Jardine stated that the sorority that she and Kathy Woodard belong to use the building and participate in some Pride activities and projects.  The officers will consider the exception for them after the formal meeting.

  2. Park City Alive!   Next Nov 19 at library, Friends of the Library are the sponsor.  Dee Stuart said that she will no longer chair the project.   Linda Holsey volunteered to take over for 2012

  3. Park City Post  ad in Ark Valley News for Pizza Hut project.   Get articles to Len

  4. Media/Publicity/Website  Len renewed website, Donn is faithful in providing Christ Lutheran outreach news, Carol is good about information about her projects.  The phone book on website with note to send corrections.  Len Warren said that he could insert a correction form on the website.

  5. Courtesy Gifts/Memorials  Carol Copeland sent flowers to Dee Kelley who is fine now

Pride Posse Member

  1. Chisholm Trail Elementary  We committed to $2500 for After School Tutoring and $993 was offset by the Basket Bingo proceeds.  Len will write the $2500 check.

  2. Chamber of Commerce – Kathleen was out of town and missed the meeting.

  3. Christ Lutheran Outreach- collecting goods for food bank, also orphanage in Haiti – need hygiene items, Matchbox cars, small dolls

  4. Events Committee – Cecil – take Melvin Kerr off of Posse Member list?  Amelia Lattimer, Melvin Kerr, Curtis O’Rear, Bruce Helberg, Tiffany O’Rear  are the entire Committee.  Their current projects include making Christmas ornaments – bird feeders – for tree at City Hall      Valentine Dance at Methodist Church of Park City with Richie Valens with dinner for 50 prior to the dance.

  5. Friends of the Library – The Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 11 to 1.  The Diamond W Wranglers will play at 11..  Traci Henderson on behalf of Friends, asked Pride to provide treat bags  Linda moved to allow up to $400, Darrell seconded and the motion passed.  Cecil will ask John Leeker for deal on fruit.  Passed with Kathleen opposed.  Set aside 12/15 and 12/16 for packing for Christmas at Pride Building at 7 pm.

  6. PC Flyers -  4-H wants to adopt a family or two for Christmas, providing toys for a needy family.  New officers elected Tuesday, Nov 6.

Old Business

  1. Pizza Hut Promotion - $146 received for first Friday.  From now on, we will not be able to hustle in the parking lot¸ but can leave slips of paper at the front desk until that day.  Dee distributed the slips to members.

  2. Phone Books  get mistake info to Jan, all s/b delivered by now

  3. Christmas Baskets – Dee said that the plan is for delivery on Saturday, 12/17, to provide a dinner for each family.  Betty and Marion Crouse will get the donation jars out next week and Waste Connections will deliver a tall dumpster to Leeker’s on Nov. 18 to be left until Dec. 23.  She will approach local businesses for assistance and make a request for Pride’s contribution at the December meeting.

New Business

  1. Stuff the Bus 12/3 at City Hall 4:45 to 5:15 list of needed items on website need women’s coats, hats and gloves for children, hygiene items. We will need cookies and hot cider.  Carol Flower said that she will need money for purchasing the coats requested.  Len, Linda to approve expenditures not to exceed $300 to purchase items for the project.  Motion passed.

  2. Nominating Committee –Our year has changed to the calendar year so it is time for elections. Linda, Jay, Kathy volunteered (under pressure).

  3. State Pride Enrollment – Dee moved, Len seconded to maintain Community status.  Motion passed.

  4. 5K Race Dee presented a proposal from Oz Endurance to the Park City Convention & Tourism Board for $8,350 to put on a 5K and 5 mile race to be called the Park City 5+5.  The board approved funding the race.  Dee, Kathy, Karen, Eric, Jan, Chad, and Donn will work on the plan.…Len moved, Eric seconded setting up a new checking account with $500 to be reimbursed to Pride when funding is received.   Motion passed.

  5. Movies in the Park – Darrell took requests around to 25 businesses and organizations and has received- $300 from Chisholm Trail State Bank, $400 from Buckley, $100 from Chisholm Trail Seniors and a promise from John Leeker for any funding needed plus he will advertise in his weekly flyers

  6. Pride Food Pantry – committee toured Kansas Food Bank – will divide responsibilities:  paperwork – Dee  pickup – Darrell   phone in orders – Jane  inventory – Jan   pack and sort – Janie, Steve     distribution – Janie, Carol.  We   want the majority of volunteers to be crosstrained and be able to come during hours set.  There was a lengthy discussion about rules, guidelines, etc.  Eric moved and  Donna seconded to reestablish food pantry passed with Len voting against and Norb abstaining.  Committee will establish guidelines and a budget.  Jan, Dee, Darrell, Eric, Kathleen, Donna, Linda, Carol, Dee, Sterling, Norb, Jay to meet December 3, 10:00 am at the Pride Center.

  8. Computer/Printer Stuff – Dee moved, Linda seconded to allow $300 to purchase new printer/fax/printer/scanner with paper and ink.  Motion passed.
